DRAYER PHYSICAL THERAPY INSTITUTE’S SECOND TUSCALOOSA CENTER OPENS ON UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA CAMPUS

Drayer Physical Therapy Institute has opened a second outpatient center in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on the campus of the University of Alabama.

The center provides outpatient physical therapy and athletic training to university students, faculty and staff and to the local community. The center also will serve as a clinical education site for multiple sports medicine programs.

Located at 401 5th Ave. East, the center is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and can be reached at 205-348-3904.

The center specializes in orthopedics, sports medicine/rehabilitation, manual therapy, gait training, pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, work and industry services, vestibular rehabilitation, and concussion management.

Physical therapist Lauren Buckalew and certified athletic trainer Jenn Brown lead the clinical staff. Chad Barker is the center’s regional vice president, and Michael Putt is its area manager.

Brown, who graduated from the university in 2007, will continue to work with the university-sponsored Alabama Adapted Athletics.

“We’re excited to be a bigger part of the Crimson Tide community, building on the long-standing relationships that Drayer team members have with the university,” said Barker, who graduated from Alabama in 1995 with a degree in athletic training and sports medicine.

Drayer’s other Tuscaloosa location, which operates under the Rehab at Work name, is at 1781-B Commons North Loop. Overall, Drayer owns or manages more than 120 centers in 16 states.
